Word for the Day - 7

In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” (John 5:17)

Although the Father ended his work of creation on the seventh day, he never takes a break from his work of caring for the world that he has created. Jesus was criticized for healing on the Sabbath but he said his actions were in line with the Father’s behavior. His works of mercy, compassion, and love are not confined to office hours.

You can often tell what a person values by what they do on their days off. Our Father always cares about those who are in pain and distress. As children of our Father, we should not ignore opportunity to do good when it presents itself. There’s no greater task than to relieve someone’s pain and distress.

Let’s Pray…

  • that you will always be open to receiving Father’s words and works of compassion.

  • that you will be alert the needs of others in our community and be ready to show compassion, as and when you are able.
