Word for the Day - 29

Jesus: "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. This is my command: Love each other." John 15:16-17 (NLT)

Whatever the circumstances of our lives, Jesus loves us unconditionally. When we first responded to His invitation to come to Him to seek His forgiveness, He and the Father chose us to become members of His Family – His dearly loved children.

As children of our earthly families we have a responsibility to participate in family activities to learn and to grow together. In the same way God invites us to participate in the work of His family, as our thankful response to being chosen, to belonging, and to being securely loved.

There is no 'one-foot-in' membership of God’s family by which we could still absorb the family values and produce lasting fruit.

One day the fruit of our lives will be sifted/refined by God (1 Cor. 3:13). Jesus promises to equip us for the tasks the Father gives us. And if you ask in His name, the Father will give whatever you ask.

Let’s pray...

Our Father, help us to fully grasp the depth, width and height of your love, grace and forgiveness as chosen members of your family. Help us to fully participate in your work and know that if we lack wisdom, we can ask in the name of Jesus and you will give what we ask. Amen.
