Word for the Day - 24

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. John 15:9-10

The love that God the Father has for the Son is the source and the model for the love that Jesus has for us as His followers. The love that flows to us as believers from Father God in Jesus, motivates us to obey God and love each other in the same sacrificial way that Jesus loves us.

My father used to do a lot of household carpentry projects with me present. I valued our time together and I learned eagerly. Later I was able to do the same kinds of things as he did by following his instructions.

Keeping vital contact with Jesus is essential. We can’t do so unless we deliberately take steps like arranging life, prayer, silence in such a way that there is never a day when we give ourselves a chance to forget Him.

Let’s pray…

  • that we will keep Jesus’ instructions and commands so as to remain in His love even as He kept His Father’s commands and remained in His love.

  • that we will remember to love God with all we’ve got, love one another as we love ourselves and make disciples of all nations.
