“Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honour the one who serves me.” John 12:26
Our desire to serve Jesus is best expressed by being with him and following in his footsteps. In doing so we’ll be ready to serve at a moments notice, just like him. To serve Jesus means to be present with His Spirit and sensitive to His instructions in every situation of our daily lives with Him.
When my grandchildren and I create works of art, we usually start together with me showing them some possibilities. Once they’ve got the idea they take off on their own transformational adventures, showing off their progress and their final productions as we work together.
Serving Christ involves the loving, thoughtful, active promotion of the good of others and the causes of God in our world, through which we experience the many little deaths of going beyond ourselves.
To be honoured by Father God is to serve and follow Jesus in all of life.
Let’s Pray…
that as we serve Jesus, we will follow Him and be with Him as we become more like Him in doing the kinds of things He does.
that we will know for ourselves the honour that Father God gives us as we serve Jesus with our lives and follow Him closely.
